As a councillor, Bob has campaigned successfully against over-development on the Island.
He believes that providing much-needed new housing for local people must be balanced with protecting the character of our towns, villages and hamlets.
Bob supports the new Conservative administration at County Hall in undertaking a full review of the Island Plan, to ensure it is fit-for-purpose.
Bob said: "If elected as the Island's MP, I will work with the Isle of Wight Council to ensure that we have a planning framework that meets our current and future needs in a way that is sympathetic to the natural beauty of the Island. If necessary, I will take up the cause with the Department for Communities & Local Government (DCLG) to ensure the local authority has support from ministers for their intended approach.
"We must have an Island Plan that serves the Island; not developers."
