On Tuesday 9th May Bob Seely attended a gathering at Sandown Bay Academy to hear from concerned teachers, pupils and parents about the plans to merge the school with Ryde Academy.
"I am against the proposed merger. As a councillor I will do my utmost to make sure it does not happen. As a prospective MP I will do my utmost to make sure it does not happen. Should I win on 8 June and become MP, I will do my utmost to make sure it does not happen."
"It is wrong on many levels. You improve schools, you don't shut them. AET are making a foolish mistake. They need to reconsider now and, frankly, they need to work at re-establishing trust between them and teachers, pupils and parents. If they cannot, they should be removed from the running of the school."
