Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori

In recent weeks I have received communication from a number of constituents regarding the cases of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori.

I have had reassurances from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office that they are continuing to work hard to assist British nationals currently detained in Iran. I understand that Mrs. Zaghari-Ratcliffe was due to re-attend court on the 2nd November and that the court proceedings have been adjourned. I am told that the UK Embassy in Tehran continues to request consular access to Mr. Ashoori and has been supporting his family.

I want to reassure constituents that the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office continues to work hard to assist British nationals detained in Iran and my thoughts are with Nazanin and Anoosheh and their families.

I await developments on both cases with interest and hope that both Nazanin and Anoosheh will be released immediately.
